Delores Ione Davis McKey, 84 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 18, 2025. She passed away peacefully at the age of 84, having lived a long and fruitful life as a resident of Slaughter, LA.
Born on June 23, 1941, in Baton Rouge, LA, Delores was the daughter of the late Ike and Wilmer Davis. Her childhood and upbringing instilled in her a deep sense of faith and love for family that she carried throughout her life.
For many years, Delores was a faithful and active member of Slaughter First Baptist Church. Delores was the Office Manager at Tri Parish Co-op retiring with 35 years' of service. She enjoyed canning vegetables from the garden, horse races, fishing, playing cards, and trips to the casino.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Slaughter First Baptist Church, 3227 Church St, Slaughter, LA on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. The service follow at graveside in the Redwood Cemetery, Slaughter, LA, officiated by Bro. Basil Wicker.
Delores is survived by her husband of 63 years, Coach Fred McKey; two sons and daughters in-law, Emmett McKey and Stacy LeBlanc, Don and Connie McKey; grandchildren; Casey McKey, Cale Lea and Cristina McKey; step grandchildren, Michael and Mallory Courtney, Ashley and Dane Brown; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Annette Poole and Dora Kirkwood.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Ike N. Davis and Wilmer Miller Davis; sister, Barbara Cocoran, and brother, Johnnie Davis.
Special thanks to her caregivers, Tammy Jordan, Martina Gipson, Cathy Taylor, Deonna Carter, and The Hospice of Baton Rouge.
