Delores Elaine Weycker was born in Escanaba Michigan on October 3, 1942 to William and Lillian Weycker. She was the youngest of three siblings: Richard, Patricia, and little Deedee.

As a young girl growing up in Upper Peninsula Michigan, she fell in love with horses, and got her wish of owning one when she was 19. Her love for horses lived on in her heart for her entire life.

Dee graduated from Escanaba High School in the UP in 1961 and attended Northern Michigan University. After a brief stint there she went to live with her sister Pat in Milwaukee to try her hand working in the real world. It didn’t take long for Dee and Pat to realize that the inclement weather was less than ideal for two young up-and -comers with big dreams.

In the summer of 1964, the sisters talked their folks into driving them out to San Diego California to start a new life. The girls got an apartment, jobs and a new car. They were just breaking into the San Diego social scene, when in October 1965, Pat set them up on a double date where Dee met Dave. A month later Dave left for Vietnam. When he returned after 2 years, they rekindled their relationship and were married on June 29th, 1968.

Dee and Dave were married for 56 years and had three children: Paul, Joshua, and Michael. Being a mother was the joy of Dee’s life. She also longed to be a grandmother and was blessed with seven grandchildren: Emilia, Kyle, James, Caleb, Claire, Peter, and Adam. She enjoyed and spoiled the grandchildren up to the end. She loved to travel, enjoyed puzzles, and had a passion for painting. She loved to paint horses and family members.

Dee battled an aggressive type of brain cancer for just over four months. She peacefully passed at her home on July 10th,2024 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband, brother, sister, three children, and seven grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
