Demetrio Saguiped

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Demetrio "Demy" Saguiped, age 76. He passed away peacefully at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital on May 9, 2025. Born on December 22, 1948, to Antonio and Leonila Saguiped in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines.
Demy, a.k.a. "Demetri", grew up in the barangay of Labit Proper. This is where he spent his childhood and his formative years learning farming and carpentry from his father. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard where he proudly served for 22 years as a Culinary/Subsistence Specialist with the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7). Throughout his service he was assigned to various posts including Hawaii, Oregon, Alaska, Florida, and Connecticut.
Demy had a diverse variety of interests. In addition to his continued love of cooking, he found enjoyment in traveling, undertaking various home improvement projects, and property investments. He was an active member of the Filipino American community and was beloved for his sense of humor, generosity, and insightfulness. Demy took great pleasure in planning and organizing social events, and he often hosted parties for friends and family.
Throughout his lifetime, Demy built lasting friendships, and instilled strong family values of hard work, love, and respect to his family.
Demy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Felicitas; his children, Wilma (Alan), Woody (Allison), Warren (Dinah), and Wesley; as well as his grandchildren, Anthony, Dominick, Christopher, Jayden, and Ian Gabriel. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Lydia Blanco.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 8:30 am - 10:30 am at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. A funeral mass will follow at St. John Catholic Church, 22 Maple Avenue, Uncasville. A burial will take place after the mass at St. Patrick Cemetery, Depot Road, Uncasville. Starting at 1:00 pm, a pot-luck, celebration of life will take place at the Montville Polish Club, 85 Maple Avenue, Uncasville.
