Demetrios Kollias

Demetrios Kollias, who his friends also know as 'Jimmy', 76 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey.
Born Sunday, July 18, 1948 in Athens, Greece, Demetrios was the son of the late Fotis and Eugenia Kollias.
Demetrios was raised in Greece until the age of seven when he immigrated to the United States with his family. The family settled in the Astoria community of Queens, NY. Demetrios lived in Middle Village, before settling in Old Bridge.
Demetrios would take classes to learn computer programming becoming very proficient in COBOL. He used that skill to have a long and successful career with BNY Mellon, working in New York City.
Demetrios enjoyed spending time taking photographs, and learning about astronomy. He enjoyed completing different word games and puzzles. Demetrios also enjoyed visiting different casinos and playing the slot machines. More than anything Demetrios loved being with his family, and he will be missed by all those that love him.
Demetrios is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Katherine, by his loving children, Tomika Gotch, Jason Kollias, Yuichi Hishiyama, Christopher Kollias, and David Chai, by his caring sister, Cathy Bush, and by his cherished grandchildren, Masumi, Maya, and Alexander.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
