Dennis Clyde Applegate

DENNIS CLYDE APPLEGATE, 72, beloved father of four, passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, Florida on December 8, 2025, after a nine-year journey with Parkinson's disease. Even in his most challenging moments, he kept his sense of humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He is predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Jeanne Applegate, and his sister, Cynthia Applegate. He is survived by his sister, Theresa (William) Waterhouse; his children, Amanda (Paul) Roberts, Bethany Applegate, Andrew Applegate, and Cristin Applegate; and his grandchildren Sophia, Alex, Natalee, Immy, and Naomi. Dennis was deeply fond and proud of his family. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for them, and he will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.

Dennis was retired, but during his career he was a highly successful salesman, most notably serving as a National Account Manager for Cascades Tissue. His work took him to cities across the country, where he forged meaningful relationships and consistently delivered outstanding results. He was recognized many times for his performance and dedication. Dennis was well versed in business and valued education, earning his MBA from Jacksonville University in 2008 and graduating from the University of Miami in 1977, an accomplishment that meant a great deal to him. He wore his class rings proudly throughout his life.

Dennis was interested in sports of all kinds. He actively played golf and was a member of several bowling leagues throughout the years. Trivia games were of special interest to Dennis. He could answer any sports question from any decade with confidence. Dennis had a competitive nature that made any mundane activity into something fun and worth being a part of.

A service will be held in Toms River, New Jersey at the end of this month, with full details to be announced soon. A second service will be held this spring at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, allowing friends and family in Florida to gather and honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dennis's memory to The Parkinson's Foundation, which advances research toward a cure and provides vital resources for those living with the disease, or to the St. Augustine Parkinson's Support Group, where Dennis found compassion, encouragement, and meaningful support.
