James Ernest "Jim" Blanton

James Ernest "Jim" Blanton, 79, of St. Augustine, passed away on December 8, 2025, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring.

Born in Baxley, Georgia to the late James and Christine Blanton, Jim was raised in St. Augustine and graduated from St. Augustine High School. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life for which he held deep respect and pride.

Following his military service, Jim began a long and dedicated career first with General Tire and retired with Hancock Tire Distribution, as a Regional Sales Director for the entire continental US as his territory.. His strong work ethic, steady leadership, and commitment to his team were hallmarks of his career.

In 2013, Jim retired to the mountains of Georgia, where he enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and became a proud member of the Lions Club. He later returned home to St. Augustine, where he became an active member of McDowell Baptist Church. His faith was central to his life, and he was always eager to serve, support, and encourage others.

In his younger years, Jim loved fishing and playing golf. Throughout his life, he remained an enthusiastic football fan, cheering passionately for the Florida Gators, the Dallas Cowboys, and, in more recent years, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jim was known for his generous heart and unwavering compassion. He cared deeply for people, always opening his home to anyone in need. A devoted animal lover and a proud patriot, he held strong love for his country, the military, and his community. Above all, Jim put his family first-loving, supporting, and cherishing them with steadfast devotion.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Blanton; daughter, Kelli Bellefeuille (Steve); grandchildren, Autumn Bellefeuille, Zachary Bellefeuille, Lauren Blanton, Justin Brewer and Caitlyn Blanton; sisters, Saundra Collamati and Betty Henson. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Blanton and sister, Wanda Scifres.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with burial to follow at 2:30pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home.
