We sadly announce the passing of Dennis Michael Astrofsky, lovingly known as "Chico", on April 13, 2024. Born on August 7, 1964, in Boston, MA, Dennis was a loyal, resilient, ambitious, and funny individual who brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. A lifelong resident of Boston, he was a well-regarded demolition contractor in the construction business. Dennis's resilience was seen in his work ethic, he would face every challenge with determination and perseverance. His ambitious nature was the driving force behind his many achievements. Yet, it was his funny, cheerful demeanor that made him a beloved figure.
Dennis had a heart brimming with kindness and generosity. Known for his willingness to lend a helping hand, he touched many lives in varied ways. His loyalty and care extended beyond his work as he was, first and foremost, a devoted family man. To quote George Eliot, "Family is the key to identity.... We can change our jobs, our politics, our religion, our place of residence. But we cannot change our families." Dennis's family was his world, especially his son Michael, his daughter Nicole, and his four granddaughters, Jayla, Sophia, Jillian, and Charlotte. He treasured the time spent with them and the many memories they created together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Astrofsky, and his sister, Kelly Astrofsky. He is survived by his mother, Virgina DiGatano; his children, Michael Astrofsky and Nicole Davenport; his siblings, Laurie, Rhonda, Carol, Wayne, Stanley, Jimmy, Junior, Brian, Butch, and Johnathan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10 am - 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at the McHoul Family Funeral Home, 354 Adams Street, Dorchester. A funeral home service will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
Dennis's life was a testament to the power of laughter, love, and the strength of family. As we remember him, we invite you to share your memories of Dennis on his memorial page. Please upload any photos you may have of him to honor his legacy and keep his memory alive. His story continues in all those whose lives he touched.
