Dennis D. Buckles, 74, of Burlington, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home.
Born on November 7, 1951, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of William S. and Corinne M. (Somerville) Buckles. On November 3, 1981, in Kinsington, Maryland, he married Joyce A. Anderson at the Washington D.C. Temple.
Dennis was a 1970 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a United States Army veteran and served during the Vietnam Era. Dennis worked for Aldi Bakery for 35 years before it closed. After the bakery he worked for Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for five years until he retired. Dennis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Burlington ward. He served in several ministries through his church and loved nothing more than serving the Lord and people. In Dennis' free time he enjoyed planting flowers, doing photography, enjoyed watching the birds and watching sprint car races. He was a fan of all sports but favored the N.Y. Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all Dennis loved spending time with his family, to which he adored more than anything else.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; five children: Cynthia (Jordan) Rackham of Burlington, Jordin Gerling of Ottumwa, Iowa, Amy (Josh) Hancock of Burlington, Ray Buckles of Davenport and Jolene Buckles of Burlington; ten grandchildren; siblings: Gary (Julie) Buckles and Janice (Mark) Powell all of Burlington and one sister in-law Lori Buckles of Omaha, Nebraska. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Buckles and daughter in infancy Christina.
The funeral service for Dennis will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2727 Cliff Road, Burlington, Iowa, with Bishop Dan Bartlett presiding.
