I've known Den since my freshman year at RPI. We met at radio station WRPI, where Den taught me how to work the broadcast console. As a result, I was able to engineer for announcers and even for myself! Later on, when he worked professionally at a radio station in Troy, NY, he would let me hang out with him to answer phones! I didn't see Den after college until we both ended up at Wang Laboratories in Lowell; often we would run into each other at Donelan's and other Pepperell hot spots.
I'll miss you Den. Our condolences to the family.

I knew Den thru Amateur Radio in the 1980's. Den was a prime force in amateur radio's adoption of digital technologies. He was the founding President of TAPR (Tucson Amateur Packet Radio) and he worked with me thru AMSAT (Radio Amateur Satellite Corp) to define amateur digital communications satellites (PACSATs).
I miss Den as a friend & collaborator.

Rosemary,
We send our deep regrets to you and the rest of the family. Dennis was so courageous in his battle and how he attacked it. I admired his positive outlook and his fighting spirit. I explained to Andrew the other day how computer savvy Dennis was and how much he would have loved talking and learning from him. Please know that I can't be there in person but I will be saying a prayer for him and the rest of the family. He leaves me with many wonderful memories that I will always treasure.
Love,
Sheri

My deepest sympathies to you and your family. My husband John, KK1X, had many wonderful things to say about Den. He will be greatly missed by many, especially those in the Ham Radio world.
He lived a busy and full life for all that it ended way too soon. You all must be very proud of him. It was surely an adventure to try and keep up with him!
Best Regards,
Peggy Griswold

I worked for Den during his time at SystemSoft. Unfortunately I haven't kept in touch and I'm sorry that I didn't even know he was ill.

Dear Rosemary, Chris and Mandy,
We just returned from vacation and found the sad news of Den's passing. We have many happy memories of our kids growing up and of the times our families spent together. May the special things about Den live on inside your hearts forever.
