Dennis G. “Denny/Duby” Dubach, 81, of Highland, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL, surrounded by family.
He was born on November 1, 1943, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL, to Alfred and Bernice (nee Stoff) Dubach. On August 14, 1965, he married Nancy Smith at St. Paul Church, Highland, IL.
Denny attended St. Paul Grade School and High School, graduated in 1961. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy, where he served 4 years and was discharged in 1965. He worked shortly at Fisher Bodies in St. Louis before obtaining his plumbing license and joining Plumbers Local 360. He then worked at Houseman Supply in 1966, becoming a part owner in 1987 and retired 2004. Denny played basketball and baseball at St. Paul High School and became very active in youth sports; he coached Khoury League baseball and Weinheimer basketball teams for his son’s teams. He was President of the St. Paul Athletic Association (SPAA) at St. Paul Grade School one year, also President of the Highland Booster Club for one year. Denny spent his final years attending baseball, basketball and hockey games for his Grandsons and dance recitals for his Granddaughter. He and his wife Nancy traveled extensively, on their 25th anniversary they flew to Switzerland; they visited relatives and went to Sur see. They also traveled to Germany, Austria, Hawaii, Alaska and Mexico. Denny loved to barbecue, cook and have shrimp boils in his backyard. He was an avid sports fan of the Cardinals, Illini, Patriots and Lions. He liked playing rummy and taught his grandsons to play chess. Denny belonged to St. Paul Church, Plumbers Local 360, Knights of Columbus, Highland Optimists, American Legion Post 439, Highland Sportsman Club and Former Highland Jaycee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Bernice Dubach, brother, Thomas Dubach.
Denny is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Nancy Dubach; sons, Jeff (Carla) Dubach of Highland, IL , Joe Dubach of Highland, IL; daughter, Julie (Mike) Murphy of Arnold, MO; grandchildren, Brendan (fiancée, Kaycee Maurer) Dubach, Highland, IL, Jarett (Holly) Dubach, Highland, IL, Lauren Murphy, Arnold, MO; step grandson, Samuel Murphy, Arnold, MO; sister, Cherie (significant other, John Deloney) Riggs; brother, David (significant other, Diane Aumiler) Dubach.
Memorial Visitation: Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Friday, July 25, 2025, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, July 25, 2025, 10:00 am, at St. Paul Church, Highland, IL
Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery, Highland, IL.
