Dennis Robert Harrod Jr.

Dennis Robert Harrod, Jr. left this world to be with our Lord on July 2, 2023. Every turkey, duck, deer, squirrel and rabbit in West Tennessee breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors, but what he truly treasured in life was his family- his wife and two daughters. His pride in his girls was always abundantly clear, whether it was at school, in the woods, or on a softball field. Despite his scowl and rough-voiced exterior, Dennis had a heart of gold and an unmatched sense of humor.
Dennis was born on November 22, 1977 in Hiram, GA to Dennis Harrod, Sr., and Teresa Harrod. He spent his early years in Georgia hunting, fishing, playing baseball, and getting into trouble. He soon migrated with his family to West Tennessee, and settled in Covington where he later met his wife Lori. Together they raised their two daughters as members of Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mason, Tennessee. He spent the last 17 years moving up the ranks of Lehman-Roberts Construction Co. in Memphis. He started his career in 2006 working on road crews, shoveling asphalt, and continued on to become superintendent at their sister facility, Memphis Stone and Gravel in August 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lori; two daughters, Montana and Cheyenne; the son he always wanted, Koda, his chocolate lab; his sister, Amanda (Edward) Hart; his mother, Teresa (Bo) Burns; his father, Dennis (Becky) Harrod, Sr.; two half-brothers, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Harrod and his grandmother, Betty Lairmore.
Dennis filled many roles: husband, father, son, brother, uncle, coach, mentor, and friend. Through each of these roles, he has touched countless lives. Our family's sorrow is overwhelming, but we know Dennis lives on in our hearts. One day we will see him again.
Services for Mr. Harrod will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 7 at First Baptist Church of Covington, with interment to follow in Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Mason. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church, until service time.
