It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Dennis "Denny" Jackson, on Thursday, October 10, 2024. A hardworking and devoted mentor, Dad set a lasting example for all of us. He was married to our wonderful mother, Marilyn (Sernett) Jackson, for over 63 years, together creating a loving foundation for their five children: Dan (Marlene) Naples Florida, Joy Woods (Ron) Naples Florida, Darvin (Jackie) Naples Florida, and Kristin Hess (Chris) Newport Beach California. He was preceded in death by his daughter Julie Lyon and parents Owen and Edna.
Denny spent over 40 years farming in Pocahontas, Iowa, where he found joy and peace in camping, his passion and escape from a life of hard work. Always on the move, he was a man of many hats-running Jackson Trucking, shoveling snow to keep driveways clear during Iowa's harsh winters, selling seed corn, helping friends and neighbors, and later working at Renfroe and Jackson Landscape Company in Naples, Florida, after his farming days were over.
A proud Army veteran, Denny grew up in Palmer, Iowa, where he loved playing and watching basketball. He was the eldest son of Owen and Edna Jackson and is survived by his brothers, Darrell (Gloria) Humboldt Iowa and David (Chris) Cedar Falls, Iowa.
His legacy of love and hard work lives on through his grandchildren: Katie Lyon, Derek Woods, Drew Jackson, Kassie McDermott, Jordan Jackson, Dustin Woods, Dylan Woods, April Flesher, Jenna Jackson, Drake Woods, Paige Hess, and Jami and Justin Jackson, as well as an ever-growing number of great-grandchildren. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
We know he's enjoying a happy hour reunion in heaven with his daughter Julie Lyon by his side. Dad, your presence will be deeply missed, but your spirit and love will forever be with us.
We love you, Dad. You will never be forgotten.
