Dennis Alan Kurtz finished his fight in Camden, Arkansas August 18th, 2025 at the age of 79.
Dennis was born on March 6, 1946 in Meadville, PA to Elmer Leroy and Pearl Elizabeth (Deets) Kurtz. He was a BSA Eagle Scout and graduated from New Castle High School in Pennsylvania in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1978. In the NESEP program, he earned a BAS in Applied Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1973. He attained the rank of Lt. JG. and served on the USS Shreveport (LPD-12) out of Naval Station Norfolk, VA. He served at White Sands Missile Range, NM testing the U.S. Navy Tomahawk Cruise Missile. After service he engineered weaponry for General Dynamics in California and Arkansas.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Linda Smith Kurtz, grandson Andrew Steelman and his parents.
Dennis is survived by his children: Brian Andrew Kurtz of Downers Grove, IL, Rebecca Jane (Ed) Owens of Andrews, TX, and Ronald George (Heather) Kurtz of Jonesboro, AR.; his stepchildren: Lisa (Doug) Wood; Steven Perkins; his brothers: Dale Leroy (Michelle) Kurtz of New York and Douglas Elmer Kurtz of Flushing, NY.; Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his ex-wife: Judith Ann (Funk) Kurtz Crow of Gillette, WY Married March 20, 1972 in Oxford, Ohio.
Special thank you to: Kendra Barker, Marilyn Recter, Scott Steelman, Natasha Sherman and Natalie Purifoy for all the care and love provided to make his last days comfortable.
He was a member of Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Camden.
Graveside services will be held on September 8, 2025 at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.
