Dennis Minnick Obituary
Abingdon, VA – Dennis Timothy Minnick, age 65, passed on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Dennis was born in Grundy, VA to the late John Wesley Minnick, Sr. and Mary Wyatt Minnick. His family moved to Abingdon when Dennis was a young adult where he graduated from Abingdon High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad as an Supervisor Road Foreman of Engines after 20 years of employment.
Dennis loved music, history, and sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. Golfing and fishing were also favorite pastimes of his. He did the best he could with what life gave him. His friends and his family keep him in their hearts. He will not be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his brother, John Wesley Minnick, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Castillo Minnick; Children, Jacob Lee (Christine) Minnick, Jessica Maria Minnick, and Tiffany Renee Shifflett (Scott) Jenkins; sisters, Laryssa (Wayne) Turley, and Barbara (Curtis) Waddell; and grandsons, Elias Minnick and Finnigan James Harris Jenkins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy.
A private graveside service will be held in the Wyatt Family Cemetery, Painesville, WV.
