Dennis L. Moran, 72 of
Hope Valley, Rhode Island passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, after a yearlong battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). He was the loving husband of the love of his life Nancy Anne Moran (O'Connell). Born in Hartford, CT, on August 8, 1953, he was the son of the late Carlos L. Moran and Theresa Moran (Ouellette).
Dennis joined the United States Army after high school. During his over 20 years in the Army, he was an Enlisted Aide to several commanding generals, including 5-star General Omar Bradley. Throughout his Army career he served those generals with honor. He planned and implemented many important events for those generals. Dennis was an exceptional chef and brought so many people joy with his cooking at work as well as at home. After retiring as a very proud veteran, he continued to work at jobs utilizing his talent for cooking and baking, which included the Bakeshop at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, as well as a catering position for T.F. Green Airport.
At home, aside from cooking and baking, Dennis had a love and special talent for gardening. He could make anything grow. He was well known for his delicious tomatoes and vegetables and would share them with as many people as he could. Whenever his grandchildren came to visit, he would always take them around his gardens and pick the brightest and prettiest flowers for them to take home.
Dennis would light up a room when he entered. His sense of humor and smile was infectious, and he absolutely loved making people laugh with his jokes or playing tricks on them. He could make a joke out of any situation. Dennis was also so passionate about music. He played the guitar in a band in high school and was always known for his ability to play beautiful music on his guitar. He also danced like no one was watching. He also had a deep love for fishing and had the opportunity to fish in many of the beautiful places he was able to live (including fishing for Red Snapper in Panama) with his family as well as panning for gold in California.
Dennis adored spending time with his family. Besides his wife Nancy, he leaves his children Jessica Verno (Michael), Caryn Moran and Brian Moran; grandchildren Alyssa Verno, Javon Moran, Ashley Verno, Salena Roche, Joshua Verno; siblings Dolores Grondzik (Matthew), Richard Moran, Kenneth Moran (Florence), Pamela Moran (Gary Epstein), Michael Moran (Kathy), Michele Wilcox (Joe), Jeanine Maheras (Spiro); as well as many nieces and nephews.
