Dennis "Cork" Thompson

Dennis "Cork" R. Thompson,75 of Enderlin passed away peacefully on Saturday March 18, 2023 at home under hospice care with family at his side.
Cork was born on October 27, 1947; the 3rd child of Eugene and Marion (Douglas) Thompson in Fargo, ND. Cork grew up and attended school in Sheldon, ND.
On August 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Cheryl (Rolland). They made their home in Enderlin, where they raised their family.
After his school days he enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard where he gained the ranking of Sargent for the Motor Pool. He held many jobs throughout the years being a "Jack of all trades, master of none". Morris Sand & Gravel, Ranes Motors, Ransom County, Bueling Farms. Owning and operating City Services and then working for the City of Enderlin, where he worked for over 30 years until retiring.
Cork was an avid Nascar fan especially Dale Earnhardt "The Intimidator". His grandchildren were his world and when his health allowed, he enjoyed going and watching them play, also supervising and assisting Anthony with his race car. Cork really enjoyed a game of pinnacle "if he was winning". He was a lifetime member of the Enderlin/Sheldon Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl; his son Travis James and daughter Kellie Sue (Matt) Sandvig; granddaughter, Danica Lee Wendel and grandsons Anthony Michael Wendel and Maverick Matthew Sandvig; brothers, Donald "Doc" (Carol) Thompson of Valley City, ND, Dave (Judy) Thompson of Fargo ND; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Branda Jo, parents Gene and Marion Thompson, sister Donna "Suze" Olson and brother Doyle "Feezer" Thompson.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Lisbon.
A lunch and fellowship will be served at the VFW in Enderlin following the memorial service. Please feel free to stop and have a bite to eat and share memories even if you are unable to attend Corks memorial service.
