Denver Boyd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Taylor Family Funeral Home - Pinellas Park on Nov. 30, 2025.
Denver Bernard "Denny" Boyd, born on July 15, 1942, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, spent his childhood in Rock Spring, Georgia. His high-school years were divided between Largo, Florida, and Northwest Georgia; he attended Largo High School and later graduated from Lakeview High School in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, with the Class of 1960.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Pearl Boyd (Bowman) and Denver Bernard Boyd, as well as his sister, DeAnne Huskey (Boyd).

In 1962, Denny was introduced to the love of his life, Suzanne Pilecki, a Weeki Wachee Mermaid. The two were married at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church on July 3, 1965. Together they raised four children: Christopher Boyd (Rachel Bryant, Spencer), Corey Boyd (Casey, Noah), Mandi Kelley (McKenzie Smith, Madison Tokay, Hunter Kelley), and Marci Adkinson (Josh, Will, Jillian).

He cherished his family deeply and leaves behind eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several beloved cousins, a niece, a nephew, many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, and numerous lifelong friends.

Denny proudly served in the United States Air Force beginning in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1968. After his service, he began a lifelong career at Rogers Brothers, working as a crane operator for 40 years. Throughout his career, he lifted everything from trusses to grand pianos and massive boulders, across Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco counties, and even helped construct Raymond James Stadium and rides at Busch Gardens.

After retirement, Denny found joy simply in being with his wife, his family, and his grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR and baseball fan, especially devoted to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Denny was a proud husband of 60 years, a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a beloved friend to many. His life was marked by hard work, humor, devotion, and love-and the memories he created will be cherished forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 6 th at Taylor Funeral Home 5300 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, FL 33781
