Derek William Hamm, 47, of Vincennes, IN passed away surrounded by family on February 5, 2025, after a severe car accident. He was born in Washington, IN on October 19, 1977, to Dennis L. and Jean A. (Holman) Hamm. Derek graduated from South Knox High school in the class of 1996. He continued his education at Vincennes University where he received his associate's degree. Derek attended Wheatland Christian Church.
Derek was an incredibly creative person and a lifelong artist. He worked with several different mediums but is known for making jewelry and specifically spoon rings. Derek loved to tinker and created all different types of art but he was most passionate about his family. He was a loving a devoted father, son, and brother. He treasured his children and loved playing outside with them and having Nerf battles. He also enjoyed cooking waffles. Derek will be deeply missed by all who crossed his path.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents G. Lee and Louise Hamm; and maternal grandparents Billie and Mary Holman.
Derek is survived by his adoring children Logan (Kassidy) Hamm, Chance (Tanna Baxley) Hamm, Sayler Hamm and Violet Hamm; parents Dennis and Jean Hamm; grandson Wesley William Hamm; siblings D. Kyle (Teri) Hamm, Aaron (Shawna Borden) Hamm, Katrina (Clint Kimmel) Hamm; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Derek. Visitation will be February 11, 2025, from 11 am to service time at Wheatland Christian Church. The funeral service will begin promptly at 2 pm followed by cremation.
Memorial donation can be made to the Wheatland Christian Church in Derek's memory.
