Mr. Derek Myers was discovered unresponsive at his Smith Lane farm home on Thursday morning and was pronounced deceased at 6:32 a.m. March 27, 2025 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Emergency Room at the age of 34.
Mr. Myers is at the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where his funeral services will be conducted on Thursday afternoon April 3rd at 1 p.m. Bro. Jeff Burton and Larry Cole will officiate the services and burial will follow beside his dad at the Rob Draper Cemetery in Gainesboro.
The Myers family will receive friends at Sanderson in Kempville on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Thursday after 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. services.
He was born Derek Matthew Myers at the former Carthage General Hospital in South Carthage on March 20, 1991 and was one of two children, a son and a daughter, of Bonnie Renee Vance of the Kempville Community and the late David Eugene Myers who died as a result of an automobile accident in the Highland Community at the age of 41 on May 23, 2002.
Mr. Myers, having never married, was a 2009 graduate of Smith County High School.
At the age of 12 he was baptized into Christ at the Bagdad Church of Christ.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Bonnie, is his step-father, Mark Vance, sister, Tabitha Myers Warren and husband D. J. of the Kempville Community; close friend, Dustin Diminovich of the Smith Bend Community, aunt and uncle, Stephanie Myers Conrad and husband Dr. Peter Conrad of Fairmont, West, Virginia; uncle, Jack (Spud) Givens of Baxter.
