Derick Philip Morgan Sr.

Derick Philip Morgan, Sr., 56, of Marion, passed away at 4:48 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, November 13, 1968, to James Morgan and Daphne (Mansfield) Royal.
Derick graduated from Marion High School and worked as a chef. He also worked at Manheim of Georgia. He was a member of Greater Second Baptist Church, as well as Pontiac GT Ryderz out of Atlanta, Georgia. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, fishing, cooking, and yard work. He liked to help with his church whenever he was called upon. More than anything, Derick loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his father, James (Kate) Morgan of Marion; mother, Daphne Royal of Marion; companion, Micki Morgan of Marion; children, Charmaine Morgan, Breonna (Josh) Scott, Derick Robinson, Derrian Morgan, Derrick Morgan, Derrin Morgan, Derralyn Morgan, and Derrion Young; step-sons, Jay Freeman and Jermaine Freeman; step-daughters, Antonia Leach and Antoinette Fort; a host of grandchildren; sisters, Kathie (Ricky) Pirtle and Josetta Chappell; brother, Joe Weaver, Jr.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Richard Royal, Jr.; son, Derrius Morgan; brother, Michael Weaver; and grandfathers, Joe (Cleo) Mansfield and Tom (Mildred) Morgan.
The family will receive visitors from 12 noon to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 705 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Derick's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Benny Powell, Sr., officiating.
