Derrick's was a life noted for his gregarious spirit, his ease in storytelling, and a joyous laugh that could command the ambiance of any gathering. He was a confidant and counselor, always there to offer a kind word or a piece of sage advice and lend a hand. He embodied unwavering commitment to his beloved family and a wide circle of friends.
Surrounded by love, his legacy is carried on by his father, Dave Barton; beloved and cherished son, Ryder Barton, Ryder’s mother Beth Watt Pinkerston; brother John Barton along with his spouse Cherrod; nephew Wes Barton with his spouse Dakara; nieces Whitney De La Cruz and Wendi Barton; and a cherished cadre of great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceding Derrick in his journey to eternal peace was his mother, Marilou Barton, as well as his cherished pets, Trey, Bally, Bella, and Pepper.
Derrick was a graduate of John Overton High School in Nashville, TN. Derrick also cherished his time at Western Kentucky University where he made friendships that lasted a lifetime and left a lasting impact on his alma maters. His enthusiasm for baseball, commitment to being an engaged "Baseball Dad", an ardent Tennessee Titans fan, a collector of everything, a devoted member of Sigma Chi, and an enthusiast of all things Star Wars, his passions were a testament to his zest for life.
To honor and celebrate Derrick's life, family and friends are invited to the Cedar Creek Yacht Club, located at 3581 Benders Ferry Road, Mount Juliet, Tennessee, on May 11, 2024, at 1:30 PM. A reception will follow at the Cedar Creek Pavilion, where stories will be shared and memories cherished.

The Barton family has entrusted the Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, at 325 W Cedar St, Franklin, Kentucky, with the care of Derrick's final arrangements. Their compassionate service is deeply appreciated in this time of remembrance.
May Derrick’s Memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
