Deryl Wayne Ray was born June 13th, 1944. He was the 13th of 19 children born to Homer and Lola Ray in Fair Grove, Mo. Deryl left this world on October 30th, 2025 at 6:13 am, at the age of 81, to be reunited with the loved ones who passed before him.
Deryl is survived by a whole lot of friends and family including 4 sisters from the original 19 Ray kids, Dorothy, Mary, Madene and Rosalee.
Deryl traveled in his early years for work with the railroad in Texas, California, Montana and all points in between. Deryl found his was back to Springfield where he married Carol (Smith) Ray. They had 3 children together, Rocky Ray, Rusty Ray, Dana Ray and Carol's 4 children, Leatta, Sherry, Randy and Jana.
Deryl later married Michaela (Mikie) McCarthy Ray 3 di erent times. They had two sons, Darin (D.C.) Ray, Dusty Ray and Mikie's two children, Je ro and Georgina.
Deryl had a lot of children with the women he loved and shared pieces of his Wild-hearted life with. I am certain there are a few more out there so keep your eyes and ears open. We might be related.
Deryl lived 40+ years in Republic, Mo, where he helped raise his families. He worked as a concrete driver for 20yrs at Springfield Ready Mix. He loved to talk about how much he helped build the town of Springfield. All through his 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's, Deryl loved to party and dance in all the Honky Tonks in Springfield. Deryl left his mark on this town. He loved the rougher side of town and was a true West Sider. He was once shot in 7 Gables restaurant and had many late night brawls in the gravel parking lots of the Down Beat Dance Hall, Shepps Bar, Country Corral, JoAnn's Bar, Corner Lounge, East Inn Tavern, Brew & Cue and many others.
Deryl Ray was part of the true tough guy generation. Deryl worked hard, played hard, loved hard and lived hard. He loved Boxing, Westerns and Nascar. He loved his family and friends and if you were lucky enough to be either, you were both. He loved his life and would help his family any way he could. His stories and memories will live on through his friends and family who knew and loved him.
Deryl will be deeply missed and remembered forever

Earlier today

I have many fond memories of being welcome in Deryl´s home and at the dinner table. Laughs were always abundant and conversations were easy. Rest well, Deryl.
