Christian Biography of DeVee Smalley
DeVee Joan Smalley, 90, of Superior, Nebraska, passed away on March 15, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska. She was born on November 19, 1934 in rural Jewell County Kansas to Glen "Pidge" Langer and Frieda Langer in Superior, Nebraska, where she was the oldest of six children. DeVee attended Superior Public Schools and graduated from Superior High School in 1952.
On April 12, 1953, DeVee married Donald Eugene Smalley. Together, they had three children: Debra Smalley, Deon Smalley, and Cecil Smalley. DeVee was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.
Over the years, DeVee contributed to her community through her work and volunteer efforts. She was employed by Lincoln Telephone Company, The Crest Theater, DC's North Forty, Modern Woodmen Insurance and volunteered at Nifty Thrifty. She was an active member of the Superior Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society, where she formed lasting friendships. She was an excellent seamstress and loved making quilts
DeVee was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Glen and Frieda Langer; her sisters, Frona Langer and Crystal Langer-Marker; and her brother, Joe Langer. She is survived by her children, Debra Smalley, Deon Smalley, and Cecil Smalley (Audrey); her grandchildren, Donald Smalley and Betty Smalley; and her siblings, Judy Schott and Stephen Langer; other relatives and a host of friends.
