Devera was born to Ervin and Loretta (Zinke) Lewis in Mankato, MN she was a twin but couldn’t be any more different, so different they had separate birthdays.

Devera graduated from Lake Crystal, MN in 1961 and went on to beauty school.

Devera met Bill in the summer of 1963. Their first date was waterskiing on Lake Minnetonka and the love of water grew from there. They were married in Lake Crystal in July of 1964. Devera and Bill began their lives in Chaska, MN. Where they welcomed son Gene in March of 1968. In 1970 they moved the family to their newly built home in Wayzata, and welcomed daughter Lynn in November of 1972.

In the mid 1980s Devera joined LifeUSA (now Allianz Life) as employee #17. Devera retired in 2002, she and Bill took to the road in their motorhome attending several Nascar races.
