Devera was born to Ervin and Loretta (Zinke) Lewis in Mankato, MN she was a twin but couldn’t be any more different, so different they had separate birthdays.
Devera graduated from Lake Crystal, MN in 1961 and went on to beauty school.
Devera met Bill in the summer of 1963. Their first date was waterskiing on Lake Minnetonka and the love of water grew from there. They were married in Lake Crystal in July of 1964. Devera and Bill began their lives in Chaska, MN. Where they welcomed son Gene in March of 1968. In 1970 they moved the family to their newly built home in Wayzata, and welcomed daughter Lynn in November of 1972.
Devera was a home maker for several years helping Bill with his business and spending as much time as they could at their lake home in Crosslake, MN. In the mid 1980s Devera joined LifeUSA (now Allianz Life) as employee #17. Devera retired in 2002, she and Bill took to the road in their motorhome attending several Nascar races. When not on the road you could find Devera behind her sewing machine making quilts for family and friends. She was a member for the Emily Looncrafters quilt guild and enjoyed the Log Church quilting group.
Devera is preceded in death by her husband Bill of 55 years. Her parents Ervin and Loretta Lewis, and brother Wallace Lewis. Devera is survived by sister Diann (Jack) McGowan Mankato, MN; Son Gene (Anine Thomas) Gruber of Andover, MN; Daughter Lynn (Brent) Anderson of Prior Lake, MN; 16 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Crosslake.
