Devonna Martinez

Devonna M. Martinez, 55, of Waukegan passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at her home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born February 27, 1971 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Devonna lived a life defined by love, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Devonna was happily married for 28 years to her beloved husband, Sipriano Jason Martinez. Together they built a life and a home in Waukegan, where they raised their family for 27 years. She was a proud mother of four daughters and a loving grandmother of two grandchildren. Among her proudest moments were her marriage, raising her family, purchasing the home they cherished for nearly three decades, and fulfilling a longtime dream when the couple took their first cruise together. Known for her loving nature and selfless spirit, Devonna possessed a wonderful sense of humor and could be delightfully silly at times. She was hardworking, strong-willed, and carried a quiet strength that inspired those around her. Her natural leadership qualities touched everyone she encountered. Devonna enjoyed arts and crafts, putting together puzzles, bowling, and planning small family vacations. Earlier in her journey of faith, Devonna served in the children's ministry at Village Church of Gurnee, and she counted her public baptism among one of her meaningful moments of her life, a proud declaration of the faith that sustained her through all seasons.

She is survived by her husband, Sipriano Jason Martinez; daughters, Adrianna Jones, Brianna Martinez, Angelina Martinez, Karina Martinez; grandchildren, Elias Martinez, Savannah Martinez; parents, Walter and Marie Holderbaum; siblings, Renee Holderbaum, Walter (Leah) Holderbaum, Heather Holderbaum; In-laws, Jesus and Lucila Martinez; brothers-in-law, Ricardo Martinez, Tomas (Diana) Martinez; nieces and nephews, Walter Holderbaum, Arieanna Holderbaum Shailyn Holderbaum, Makiah Shafer, Michael Holderbaum, Elexis Holderbaum, Elysa Holderbaum, Nicolas Martinez, James Bills Jr, Matthew Bills, Justyce Bills, Sophia Martinez, Eliza Martinez, Matthew Martinez.

Devonna's visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm, with her memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL 60085.
