DeWayne "Lee" Vinson
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of DeWayne "Lee" Vinson of Sylvania, PA, on April 6, 2025. Born August 23, 1960, a son of DeWayne E. Vinson and Marilyn C. (Wandell) Vinson, Lee attended Troy Area High School, graduating in 1978. He was 64 years old.
Farming and agriculture were near and dear to Lee as he grew up on the family farm. Lee worked alongside his father trucking livestock from multiple sale arenas. Lee also worked closely with many friends over the years in construction, transportation, excavation, and paving endeavors. Lee retired from Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority. He was very skilled in the operation of multiple pieces of heavy equipment and traveled to many national equipment competitions during his career. His strong work ethic was demonstrated throughout his life.
Those who knew Lee knew where to find him; he could be found tinkering or relaxing at his garage. If the garage door was open, you were welcome. Lee also enjoyed his time spent racing and competing in dirt track motorsports.
Lee was always willing to help, from lending a hand, offering his expertise, to supporting any local fundraising effort. If you had a raffle ticket, he'd purchase one. His luck followed him wherever he went. Lee was a lover of music and a master of the jukebox. He was a source of friendship, happiness and loyalty to many. Lee had a witty sense of humor and entertained all that accompanied him. Lee lived life to the fullest.
Hunting was something that Lee was most passionate about. He enjoyed his time in the woods with his children, grandchildren and many hunting buddies. Lee loved to take a mountain ride. In his travels he enjoyed watching for wildlife and enjoying the simple, untouched natural beauty of the mountains and farmlands. Lee held local history of the land dear and was a great storyteller of days past. Hunting tales were some of his favorites to share.
Known best as PopPop, he was adored by his grandchildren. Lee was a lifetime member of Oscoluwa Engine and Hose Company, Troy, PA, American Legion Post 167, Morris Run, PA, and good friend of Rainbow Riders, Troy, PA.
Surviving are his children, Matthew (Doniessa) Vinson, of Troy, PA; Emily (Joshua) Ferrario, of Troy, PA; Nicholas Vinson (Brooke), of Idaho Falls, ID; his beloved grandchildren, shared with his former wife Barbara Krise, Holden, Wyatt and Brooklynn Vinson; Harlow and Bodee Lee Ferrario; his devoted significant other Linda Nybeck at home and her children, Sabrina Wieczorek, Robert Sayman, Stephanie Sayman; sister Vickie Vinson, of Williamsport, PA; niece Jennifer (Chris) Gatsche, special nephews Ryan Vargson and Kevin Dunbar, along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
