Mr. Gary attended S. C. State University and was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Gary was employed with Amicks Farm.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Murphy, brothers, Andrew Edwards and Thomas Culbreath.
Dexter leaves behind his loving children, Dexter Tobias Gary II and Treasure Unique Gary, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Linda Gary Long and stepfathers, Andrew Long and Tom Culbreath. Dexter is lovingly remembered by his brothers: Edric Culbreath, Cedric Culbreath, Thomas Johnson, Jermaine Rauch, Tony Dorn, Michael Dorn, Kawon Davis, Timothy Williams, Tyrone Winbush; sisters: Tamika Kerns (Patrick), Tiffony Culbreath, Tomekia Means, Larachala Murphy, Krystal Johnson (Tameka), and Lisa Wallace. Dexter played a fatherly role in the lives of many, including his devoted nieces and nephews reared in the home, Leodasha Culbreath, Shaniqua Culbreath, Ursala Means, Honesty Godfrey, Tyreek Griffin, Ashton Griffin, Anthony (Kytonnia) Coleman, Tymerious Sanders, Terrance Sanders, Nasir Culbreath, and Culan Means. He is also survived by one maternal aunt, Narvis Boyd, and paternal aunts, Gail Vanlue and Yolanda Hair (Willie), who all held a special place in his heart with several other nieces, nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousin, friends, aunts and uncles.
Dexter's life was marked by his unwavering love for family, his loyalty to those he cared about, and his ability to uplift others through both words and actions. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.. He will be remembered for his strength, resilience, infectious sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
