Diana Mae Taylor Allred (age 87) passed away peacefully in Sandy, Utah on June 25, 2025. She was born in Flowell, Utah on January 26, 1938 to Tom & Arthella Taylor. As a child, her family moved around a few times before settling in Fillmore, Utah. Diana graduated from Millard High School and went on to attend Southern Utah University where she earned a Teaching Certificate and was the editor of the school newspaper. Writing was a life-long hobby and her personal journals fill numerous volumes. She moved to Salt Lake City for her student teaching and stayed when she accepted her first teaching job. It was during that first year of teaching that she met Frank Allred at a church dance and fell in love. They were married in the Manti, Utah temple on June 19, 1963. After the birth of their first child, Frank and Diana bought a home in Cottonwood Heights where they raised their family and where Diana lived until after she was widowed. She loved her home and family and was proud of each of her five children who have grown into loving, honorable, and hard-working individuals.

As grandchildren became part of her life, she cherished family gatherings for Sunday dinners and birthday celebrations. Most of the grandchildren have a favorite “Grandma dish” that would be lovingly prepared for their birthday dinner.

Diana loved playing games around the kitchen table, especially any that involved spelling and allowed her competitive side to show. Family, friends, and friends of family were always invited to stay and play a game. She enjoyed creating crafts with ceramics, crocheting, and sewing. She honored her mother’s quilting skills by creating a unique, hand-quilted baby quilt for each grandchild. Those treasured quilts are now being handed down to the next generation.

She was active in her community and a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings over the years, including serving as the Primary President in the Butler 10th Ward.

She enjoyed playing the pump organ that had been passed down in her family and sharing her musical talents in ward choirs.

Following Frank’s passing in 2011, she continued living in Cottonwood Heights as long as she was able. She then moved to West Valley City and lived in a wonderful community for a time before moving into the Cedarwood senior living community where she passed away. She is survived by her five children, Bruce (Heather), Jane (Erik), Tom (Marianna), Sally (Bart), Dale (Allison), 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, sisters Carma and Karen, and daughter-in-law Kristy.

The family would like to thank all of the individuals who have helped her throughout her life’s journey.
