It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Diana Gayle Pope Jameson Smith. She died on August 19, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico at 73. She was born on May 18, 1952, to Lonnie "Bud" Pope, and Virginia "Mae" Riggles Pope in Floydada, Texas. She spent most of her childhood in Floydada, Texas before moving to Deming, New Mexico to the Double Bar V Ranch when her dad took over running the ranch. She grew up riding her horses and barrel racing at the rodeos. She graduated from Deming High School in 1971. She married Earl Lee Jameson on November 19, 1973. In 1974 Diana gave birth to her first child Jason Jameson, and then in 1979 gave birth to Jennifer Jameson. Earl passed away in 1998. Later, Diana married Harry O Smith in 2000, who passed away in 2013. Diana had many jobs from being a housekeeper at the Shilton Inn to a CNA nurse at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home. She loved her kids and grandkids deeply and loved to laugh. She was a big fan of I Love Lucy and loved watching reruns. She was known for her kindness and compassion, which sprang from her deep love of God. She loved to sing in the choir at church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Lionel) Lozano of Deming, New Mexico, and her son Jason (May) Jameson, of Harmony, Florida. Two granddaughters Stephany Lozano of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Isabella Lozano of Deming New Mexico. One grandson, Michael Jameson of Harmony, Florida.
