Diane Benson Obituary
Diane McCoy Benson passed peacefully into heaven on May 14, 2022, at home in St. Augustine, Florida. She was lovingly attended by Neal, her doting husband of fifty-two years, and her adoring daughter Neely Prude, with the caring support of her husband Matthew. The skilled and compassionate professionals of Community Hospice provided valued navigation on Diane's short journey.
Diane was preceded to heaven by her parents Robert, Sr., and Lula McCoy of Blountstown, Florida, and three older brothers, Tim, Broward, and J. W., all of areas in the Florida Panhandle. And, of course, awaiting Diane's arrival in heaven is daughter Nicole Ann Silvis (Todd Silvis), who made the journey unexpectedly in March of 2021.
Along with husband Neal and daughter Neely, Diane also leaves behind for their journey at another time, brother Robert, Jr., and sisters Hazel Walden and Wanda Spooner, all from the Blountstown, Florida area.
Funeral services are being directed by friends at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, Florida 32084 (904-824-1672). The service will be conducted by Reverend Alan Benson, brother of Diane's husband, Neal, on Saturday, May 21, 2021 beginning at 2:00 PM, in the main chapel at the funeral home. A very brief graveside committal will follow at Craig Memorial Park, 2600 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine, Florida 32086.
The Arc of the St. Johns will welcome family and friends for a reception with food and beverages following the service. The Arc of the St. Johns is located at 2101 Arc Drive, St. Augustine, Florida 32084.
Guests are not being entertained at the family residence at this time.
