Diane (Wheeler) Di Cicco age 83 passed away peacefully at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester on August 14, 2023.
She was born January 29, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Dr. Stewart and Gladys (Fox) Wheeler.
Diane grew up in Detroit and graduated from Immaculata High School and the University of Detroit with a degree in Elementary Education. While at the University, she met Dominic Di Cicco and they were married on June 27, 1964 and she accompanied him to Oklahoma where he completed his military service. They then moved to New York where he was employed by IBM and their two children were born. Then the family transferred in 1968 to Essex Junction, VT. Diane accepted a teaching position in Malletts Bay School in Colchester and attended classes at St. Michael's College where she earned a Master of Education Degree in 1976. She continued her teaching career as well as being appointed an Associate Professor at St. Michael's College and supervising student teachers in many schools in the area. She retired from her teaching career in 1995 and continued to support Dominic in many Knights of Columbus activities both locally as well as statewide. She was also very active in bridge groups and swimming exercises at the Edge.
Diane is survived by her husband Dominic as well as her daughter Therese Di Cicco of Kent, Wahington and her son Michael Di Cicco and his wife Maria Cristina Di Cicco of Singapore, her grandchildren Michael Dominic Di Cicco and Armando Gabriel Di Cicco of Brooklyn, NY. Besides her parents, Diane was predeceased by a sister Miriam Wheeler Moons and her brother George Wheeler.
Friends and family are invited to a life celebration and visitation from 5-7:00 PM on Thursday, August 24, at Ready Funeral Home Mountain Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 25 at St. Lawrence Church, 158 West Street, Essex Junction, with burial to follow at the Holy Family Cemetery Columbarium.
