Diane L. Gee, 74, of Lafayette, IN, passed away at 3:34 AM on October 7, 2025, at Franciscan Health Lafayette with her family by her side.
She was born on June 13, 1951, to Richard and Eileen (Weis) Vos. Diane married Raymond Gee on August 14, 1982, at University Lutheran Church in Lafayette.
Along with her husband, Raymond, she is survived by her daughter, Rachel Witt of West Lafayette; grandchildren, Mike Munday, Mark (Brittaney) Munday, Mitch Witt (Kate Layman), Eleanor Witt, Lilly Witt, and John Witt; and her sister, Vicki Shirley.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul and Charles Vos; and sister, Joan Weddle.
Diane graduated from Purdue University. She retired from IBM after a 30-year career with her final position as an IBM Executive Consultant due to her excellence in communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
After retirement, she focused on a new career: a porcelain artist and sculptor. Diane used her endless curiosity and creativity to make unique and beautiful porcelain pieces.
For many years, she owned Grateful Heart Gallery on Lafayette's Main Street that showcased not just her artwork, but also artwork of emerging artists. Diane strove to make art accessible and not intimidating by encouraging local shops and restaurants to display artwork.
Diane was an active member of University Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church, giving of her time and talents on numerous committees and projects, singing in the choir, serving as a reader, and donating her artwork.
She also mentored young journalists as a member of the Purdue Student Publishing Foundation Board of Directors.
Diane enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling; both fueled her creativity. She was a worldwide traveler, visiting all 7 continents. She kept stats for McCutcheon volleyball, was an adventurous cook, and made a killer coconut cream pie. Diane trained Panda, their African Grey Timneh parrot, who continues to torment Raymond.
Diane's tireless energy, generosity and love for others will never be forgotten. She made us all better people.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Diane's name may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Food Finders in Lafayette, IN.

I was good friends with Diane half a century ago, at the Purdue Exponent. Although her passing is sad, I was glad to see her enthusiasm for life never waned. Living a successful and interesting life is an excellent legacy.
