Diane Patch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heald Funeral Home - Saint Albans on Mar. 16, 2025.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Diane Marie Patch, who peacefully entered into Heaven on Thursday surrounded by family. Diane was a loving wife, devoted mother & grandmother, cherished daughter, beloved sister, and treasured friend. Diane was born on May 9, 1953, in Farmington, New Mexico, to Harold and Laurea LaBounty. From a young age, her warmth, kindness, and intelligence touched everyone she met. After the untimely death of her father, her family returned to Vermont where her mother got remarried to her new father, Maurice Bonnette, whom she came to love like he was her own.
Diane grew up in Vermont, attending Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. She continued her education at Champlain College, earning an Associate's degree in Accounting. With a sharp mind and diligent work ethic, Diane began her career at J&B International in Burlington, Vermont. It was there that she met the love of her life, Peter. Their early dates often included sweet moments shared at the then-small Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream shop, a prelude to a marriage filled with love and adventure. Diane and Peter were married on October 13th, 1984, and embarked on a lifetime of memories, traveling together to breathtaking destinations such as Aruba, Hawaii, Europe, and China.
Diane's values and unwavering sense of kindness were central to the way she lived her life. Her faith provided her with inner strength and a strong moral foundation, which she shared with her family through her actions and guidance. Diane was a source of encouragement, generosity, and love to all who knew her.
Diane and Peter made their home in South Burlington, Vermont, where she took joy in being a wife and a mother to their two beloved children, Lori & Greg. As a mother, Diane was nurturing, patient and selfless, always putting her family's happiness above all else. Later on in her life, she was delighted to become a grandmother and share the same love and nurturing with her four grandchildren. She brought laughter, guidance, and a steady source of love to her family and friends.
From childhood to adulthood, Diane shared an unbreakable bond with her best friend, Anita (whom she called Nete). Their friendship was one of laughter, trust, and unwavering support that spanned a lifetime. Anita was not just a friend to Diane but a beloved member of her extended family.
Diane was predeceased by her father Harold LaBounty. She is survived by many that will dearly miss and lovingly remember her, including her husband Peter, her daughter Lori Linn (Joe), her son Gregory (Morgan Kirk), grandchildren Kaiya, Carter, Taylor, and Emily Linn, her mother Laurea Bonnette, step-father Maurice Bonnette, and siblings Alan LaBounty (Judy), Rita Wells (Butch), Joanne LaBounty (John), Corrine Bonnette, and John Bonnette (Nina), as well countless extended family members and friends. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Mass honoring Diane's life will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 11am, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 246 Lake Street in St. Albans. Diane's ashes will be laid to rest during a private family ceremony at a later date.

Hi Peter, my sincere condolences to you and your family. Diane was one of the sweetest lady´s I ever knew. I had the pleasure of working with her at COCO for many years. Always had a smile on her face and helped me with any questions I might have. She faced her illness with bravery and never complained or felt sorry for herself. After leaving COCO, I would run into her from time to time. Always the same Diane, big smile and a "how are you"? Peter, we are in Florida till the first of April. I can´t make her service, but will be thinking of her and you at this difficult time. Please take care. George Parker.

Peter, Lori, and Greg,
My deepest condolences on the passing of Diane. She was such a wonderful woman. She loved looking out the window at the birds. She would always say hi and put on a smile. I came to learn through doing exercises with her just how strong and determined she was. Even when she didn´t want to join the exercise group I would ask if she would like to just turn and watch and she would smile with a yes. Then even though she only wanted to watch I would look over to see her participating. Many times when we did yoga I would look over to find her laughing at me cuz I would get confused on what they were doing. She would always saying she was never laughing at me. I learned she had a great knowledge of a wide variety of music when we would play name that tune.
Peter it was always a pleasure to see you walking her around the building with her or see you sitting outside just enjoying each other´s company as I left my shift at the end of the day. We will definitely miss Diane and we will miss you Peter walking her through the recreation room just to say hi.
May you all find comfort in each other and all the memories you have with your time with Diane. She will live on in your hearts and the stories you share of her.
Sincerely,
Danielle Dragon
