Diane VandenBoom Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 28, 2023.
Diane Elaine VandenBoom, age 66, passed away suddenly on December 26, 2023. Beloved wife to Timothy Gerard VandenBoom for 45 years. Cherished mother to Timothy VandenBoom II M.D., Kayla VandenBoom, and Sara Provost (nee VandenBoom). Dear grandmother to Kathryn Provost and James Provost. Loving daughter to Ronald Wooten and the late Heidi Wooten (nee Cherry). Adored sister to Sharon (Steve) Feola. Survived by many in-laws, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her mother, cousin Laurie Carlyle, grandparents Elsie and Noel Wooten, and loving in-laws Marie and Dutch VandenBoom and precious friends - Leanne, Susie, Liz, Stella, and Pam.
Diane was born on October 12, 1957 in London, England while her father selflessly served our country in the United States Navy. Her family later moved from the United Kingdom to the United States - settling first in San Diego, California then to Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan where Diane ultimately set her roots.
After graduating from Grosse Pointe South High School, Diane took various courses at Macomb Community College and was employed at Cottage Hospital as a respiratory technician and nurse aide for many years. She was also employed by the Secretary of State and then went on to become a truly dedicated employee of the City of Grosse Pointe Park as a dispatcher and administrative assistant with the public service department. She also volunteered as a probation officer for the City of Harper Woods.
In the late 1970s, Diane met the love of her life, Timothy. The two fell fast in love and were married on September 1, 1978. After 45 years of holy matrimony, Diane and Timothy not only raised three beautiful children - Timothy II, Kayla, and Sara - but also depicted the true meaning of love and companionship to all of those around them.
Diane was an active member of the AmVets Post 57 and the treasurer of the AmVets Ladies Auxiliary for over 25 years. She found peace in nature, watching the freighters pass by on Lake St. Clair. She also was an avid animal lover and dedicated her free time to raising money for various charities.
Memorial visitation for Diane will be on Sunday January 7, 2024 from 2-7 PM, rosary at 6 PM, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. An instate gathering will be on Monday January 8, 2024 at 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Rd, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Diane's memory can be made to AmVets Ladies Auxiliary, Post 57, 19730 Harper Ave, Harper Woods, MI 48225 or Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telgraph Rd Ste 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.

I worked with Diane for many years. We ate lunch almost everyday together. We all pooled our money together and would go to Canada to go to the casino. I never laughed so hard when she told a story of the dog catcher. The way she told it and her gestures were hysterical. I´ll miss her at our retiree lunches. Her laugh and stories will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with her and her family. She was a blast!!
