Dixie C. LaFary, 86, of Havana, passed away at Mason District Hospital, in Havana, at 11:15 a.m., on Saturday, November 16, 2024. She was born October 4, 1938, in Canton, Illinois, to John Thomas and Pauline (Bybee) Werry. She married Keith LaFary and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1985.
Mrs. LaFary is survived by two sons: Greg LaFary and Kent LaFary, both of Havana; granddaughter: Michelle (Joe) Cagle of Havana; grandson: Jason (Hanna) LaFary, of Indiana; eight great-grandchildren: Blake, Carison, Seth, Ethan, Ian, Paige, Kayla and Isabella, as well as five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, David and Richard Werry. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-Cathy Ray, granddaughter-Sarah Emory, siblings, Jack, Karen and Judith, as well as long time companion, Lowell Bree.
Mrs. LaFary enjoyed bowling, painting ceramics, yard sales and antiquing. For many years, she could be found on the Spoon River Drive, selling her ceramics. Her greatest joy came from family, especially when she could spend time with Blake and Carison.
