Dolores Prado Wedholm, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Florida surrounded by her youngest daughter, DeeDee Mason and family. She was 91 years old.
Dolores was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 29, 1933. She graduated from Tech High School in 1953. She was part of the Red Jacket cheer group and received garment manufacturing training.
She worked in civil service at Kelly and Lackland Air Force Bases for 25 years. She was an expert seamstress and enjoyed music and entertaining. She was a devoted and faith filled mother to her five daughters, she was always ready to offer advice, a listening ear, and words of encouragement. She enjoyed life with big smiles, laughter and kindness.
She married Dan V. De La Garza in 1954, and they were together for 20 years. Dolores wed Ted Wedholm in 1977 and were together for 10 years.
Dolores is survived by 5 daughters; Diane Elizabeth Chapa, Debra Rose De La Garza, JoAnn Bonanno, Janet Johnston and DeeDee (Dolores Marie) Mason, her grandchildren; Cherise Moreno, Marcie Cast, Anissa De La Garza, Daniel Chapa, John Bonanno, Jacob De La Garza, Chelsea Bonanno, Melanie Mason, Elizabeth Mason, Bradley Johnston, and Katherine Mason and her great-grandchildren; Destiny and Christopher Rodriguez, Hila Frey Mata and Scarlett Veda Wagner.
Dolores is also survived by her brother George Prado and wife Beverly. And Son-in-laws Ricardo Chapa, Mike Bonanno and Dale Johnston.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Trinidad Rojo Prado, James (Santiago) P. Prado, stepmother Evangelina Gonzales Prado, ex-husband's Dan De La Garza and Ted Wedholm, her siblings; James (Jimmy) Prado, Robert Prado, Alfred Prado, Robert Cruz, Connie Cruz and grand-daughter Stephanie Wendell.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, April 9 at 10:30 am at Mission Park Funeral Home, at 1700 SE Military Dr San Antonio, TX 78214. Burial will follow the memorial service.
