Don Merrit Campbell, 82, of Anderson, formerly of Lapel, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Community Hospital in Anderson. Born on September 27, 1943, to Merrit Campbell and Evelyn Campbell (Scherer), Don lived a full life filled with love and laughter.
A proud graduate of Purdue University, Don was a die-hard Boilermakers fan who lived and breathed Purdue basketball and football. He started his career as an engineer at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and later dedicated many years to Guide Lamp, a division of General Motors.
Don was married to the love of his life, Peggy Jean Brown, for an incredible 62 years, and together they built a beautiful family. He was a family man at heart, enjoying every holiday and family gathering, especially those spent with his grandchildren, who he adored more than anything.
Don loved being outdoors and took great pride in his yard, always keeping it just right. He brought joy to those around him with his warm spirit and infectious smile.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Campbell; his daughter, Jeri (Craig) Wilson; a daughter-in-law, Cherie Campbell; four grandchildren, Taylor (Josh) Vetor, Curtis (Dr. Devon Roese) Wilson, Lauren (Kyle) Modad, and Morgan (Ryan) Moss; five great-grandchildren, Quinn and Parker Vetor, Kyler and Korra Modad, and Aurora Moss. Don is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Rick Woodward and Steve Schuyler.
