Don Moore, age 85 of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Waters of Winchester. A native of Franklin County, he was born on April 21, 1937, to the late Walter and Lucy Hill Moore. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School. Don was a member of the Decherd First Baptist Church. He missed being able to attend church every time the doors were opened but Brother Chris made a point to visit him to pray as often as he could, an act he so deeply appreciated. Don loved being outside year-round and at any given time you could ride by and see him on his porch and get a holler and a wave. He loved gardening just to give it all away and mowing for people in the neighborhood who couldn't do it for themselves. He was famous for the paintings on his outbuildings as people would say, "that's the house with all of the drawings and UT things." Don also enjoyed tinkering with anything and everything he could get his hands on, and he could sell anything, his specialty was lawn mowers. He was a very good artist and enjoyed showing his friends and family the picture he drew of his daddy's mule. Don loved his grandkids and great-grandkids and spent as much time with them as he could. He never met a stranger, and if he did, they weren't a stranger for long. He knew everybody and who they belonged to because everybody was family. Then let's not forget, his blood ran orange through and through as he was one of the biggest University of Tennessee fans that ever walked. When Tennessee beat Alabama, his face showed his excitement and Don and his family celebrated and listened to Rocky Top as loud as we could. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Morris, James Moore, Edna Kelley, Lucille Garner, Ida Stewart, Charlie Moore, and Roy Moore. Don is survived by his sister, Alline Rogers; children, Stacey Moore Mitchell and Scott Moore; grandchildren, Glenn and Brittney Mitchel, Blake and Jackie Moore; great-grandchildren, Jase Mitchell, Carson Hanak, Kaden and Maddox Moore, and Brantley Leon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that he always said he was so blessed to have. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Nolan officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, (931)-967-2222, www.moorecortner.com.
