John Donald Salling, age 90, of Chattanooga, TN passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Jean McNair Salling, who passed away in 2012.
Don was born June 7, 1935 in Chattanooga, TN to the late John Edison and Martha (Blakely) Salling.
He was a graduate of Lakeview High School in 1954, and attended Young Harris College. He retired in the mid 90s from General Electric Supply Company as the manager of the Chattanooga office after 30+ years of service.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Sawyers, Chattanooga, TN; Donna (Ernie) Mullis, Ringgold, GA; Teresa (Michael) Sentell, Catoosa County, GA; son, John (Lorenda) Salling, Dalton, MN; sister Edene Fry, Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law Sybil (David) LHeureux, Franklin, TN; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at Heritage Funeral Home, 3239 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742. The service will be held following visitation with Reverend Jim Elder officiating. Interment will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Demenia Society of America, dementiasociety.charityproud.org/donate.
