Donald R. Bachmann, 93, of North Haven, passed away on January 26, 2026 in North Haven. He was born on October 18, 1932 in Bronx, New York. He was the son of the late Eugene and Grace Ann (Barwiss) Bachmann.
Donald served in the US Airforce during the Korean War, and later worked and retired from Pratt & Whitney, North Haven.
"Big D" as he was affectionately known, retired as a longtime member of the Northeast Volunteer Fire Company (North Haven) Company 4. He was a lifelong, devoted Giants Football Fan, and a big supporter of UCONN women's basketball. His clipboard with game stats and the player stats were right next to him during each game. He also enjoyed fishing and has his prized catch hanging on the wall to show it off.
Donald leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Geraldine. He is also survived by his brother, Stanley Bachmann, of Florida; daughter, Laurie Buick (Tom); son, Robert (Betsy); son, Dirk (Nicole); daughter, Stacy Murray (Chris). He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.
