With grieving hearts we have said goodbye to our dearest father, Donald A. Bongle, born May 31st, 1939. Don passed away on November 2nd, 2025 at the age of 86 while at home with family. He was the oldest of fourteen children, born to Arthur and Marie Bongle. Don was a native of Door County where he graduated high school in 1958 and met the love of his life, Lois Berkhahn at a high school basketball game in the fall of 1959. One year later, they married on October 22nd, 1960 at St. John's The Baptist Church in Egg Harbor, Door County Wisconsin. Don joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. They had three children, Lauri, Donald and Lynn and have lived in West Allis and last resided in Milton, Wisconsin.
His life was full with his children and spending time outdoors with his many hobbies. He has maintained long standing friendships related to his love of fishing, snowmobiling and hunting. Don participated in raccoon hunting, showing his dogs and volunteering his time to the Conservation Congress. These loves were shared with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who proudly continue to pursue his passions. Donald also retired from the Janesville, GM plant in 1998. He was often remembered because of his perfectly shaped handle-bar mustache smile.
He was predeceased by his mother (Marie Bongle), father (Arthur Bongle) and two brothers (Robert Bongle and Richard Bongle). Donald is survived by his loving wife, Lois Bongle; his three children, Lauri Bongle, Donnie (Kelly) Bongle, Lynn Langer; his grandchildren Leland (Caitlyn) Bongle, McKenna Lary (Tony), Tyler Langer, Dylan Bongle; two great-grandchildren Stetson & Bennett Bongle; siblings, Donna (Bill) Laabs, Tom (Vonnie) Bongle, Kenny (Mary) Bongle, Ellie (Ken) Pastorius, Bill (Joanne) Bongle, Lois (Skip) Blahnik, Betty (Gene) DeJardin, Stanley (Kathy) Bongle, Doug Bongle, Mary (Steve) Linton, Joe (Kendal) Bongle along with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 am St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 590 St. Joseph's Circle, Edgerton, Wisconsin 53534. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Rock County Cancer Coalition in Donald's name so his memory lives on in support of those families fighting for more time with their family members.
