Donald L. Casner

Donald L. Casner, 79, of Viola, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025 at his home east of Viola, Kansas.

Visitation with family present 4:30 -5:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025 and Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, both at the Haysville Christian Church, 1306 W. Grand Ave, Haysville, Kansas. Private Interment in Peotone Cemetery, Viola, Kansas.

Don was born July 9, 1946 at Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of C. L. "Bus" and Lillie (Sartin) Casner. He grew up in the Viola community and attended the Viola School before transferring to Conway Springs in the 8th grade. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1964. He continued his education at Sterling College and Arkansas City Junior College before completing a Bachelor of Science degree at Pittsburg State University.

Don was united in marriage to Linda Jo Gaskin on November 30, 1974 in Wright City, Missouri. They made their home at Viola, Kansas. Linda passed away March 31, 2007. He later married Linda Joy Scaramuzzi on October 16, 2009 at their farm home northeast of Viola.

Don began farming at age of 13. He worked in the aircraft industry during the winter months at Cessna Aircraft in industrial arts education and at Boeing Aircraft as a tool builder. He ultimately became a full-time farmer until his retirement in 2012.

Don was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church, Viola, Kansas.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Don is survived by his wife Linda Casner; one son Justin Casner of Clearwater, Kansas; one daughter Angelica Casner of Kansas City, Missouri; one granddaughter Hope Casner of Chicago, Illinois and a number of other relatives and many friends.

Memorials have been established to the Haysville Christian Church, The Parkinson's Foundation or Elevate Hospice.
