Mr. Donnie Darnell age 73 of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at home.
Donnie was born in Fairmount on September 5, 1951, to the late H.J. Darnell and the late Gladys I. Darnell. Donnie graduated from Calhoun High School in 1969. He was a farmer and employed as a lineman with North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation and later as a school bus driver with the Gordon County School System. Donnie served in the Georgia National Guard Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 108th Armor. He was a member of the Farmville Church and was a member of the Methodist faith. Donnie was a member of the Sonora Masonic Lodge #221.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Mary Jackson Darnell; a daughter, Beth Darnell Hughes and her husband Jon; a daughter, Donna Darnell Chapman and her husband Sam; and a son, Drew Darnell and his wife Vanessa; Eight grandchildren, Marybeth Chapman, Hoyt Darnell, Hayden Darnell, Hunter Darnell, John Chapman, Addie Beth Hughes, Evelyn Chapman, and Harry Darnell.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at 2 PM at Farmville Church with Rev. Winford Casey officiating and Chaplain Tim Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites provided by Sonora Lodge F&AM #221. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include Hoyt Darnell, Mike Darnell, Sam Chapman, Jon Hughes, Justin Clements, Jacob Hammontree, Mickey Jackson and Steven Yancey. Honorary pallbearers include Hayden Darnell, Maurice Gowens, Jason Blackmon and the Masons of Sonora Lodge.
The family will receive friends at Farmville Church from 12 PM to 2 PM on Friday, October 25, 2024.
