Donald F. Hancock, Jr., 74, of East Moline, passed away March 16, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis in Silvis.
Memorial services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1301-4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm. Friday March 21, 2025, at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
Don was born on April 14, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son Donald F. and Dorothy “Dottie” J. (Bowman) Hancock. He married Stacy Van Damme on February 14, 1998, in Las Vegas. Don spent his life working in heating, air and refrigeration. He grew up spending time on his grandpa Melvin’s farm. He had a love for John Deere, particularly the John Deere B Tractor. When he was younger, Don was an All-Conference Defensive Safety. His love of sports continued throughout his life and he was incredibly involved in youth sports, coaching all of his children. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Fighting Illini fan. Don also enjoyed golfing and was known for his sweet tooth. He adored his family, and he especially loved being involved with his grandkids. He had numerous friends that he shared a special bond with particularly, Bruce Lough and Mike & Kay Jhala.
“We can do that” was a phrase Don said quite often, as he was always ready and willing to lend a hand to anyone.
Survivors include his wife, Stacy; children, Paul (Nancy) Hancock, Missy (Michael) Price, Kris (Justin) Anderson, Stephenie (Andrew) Sandoval, Christopher Lee, Alyssa (Joshua) Talley; grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny), Tate, Cade, Sarah, Ty, Payton; great granddaughter, Elizabeth; brothers, Darren (Robin) Hancock, Dan (Teresa) Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David.
