Donald (Donnie) Lewis Gantt Jr., age 71, of Buchanan, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on August 28, 2025.
Born in Atlanta on July 12, 1954, Donnie was the son of the late Donald Lewis Gantt Sr. and the late Beverly Ann Hembree Gantt. He is survived by his brother, Greg Gantt, (Kay) of Harris County, Georgia; nephews Taylor Gantt and Miller Gantt (Haley), all of Columbus, Georgia.
Donnie was raised in Douglasville, where he attended the Douglas County public schools. As a young man, he learned the carpeting trade and, through dedication and hard work, established his own small business. Over time, he expanded his services from carpet installation to a full range of floor care, including non-carpeted surfaces.
A true outdoorsman, Donnie loved fishing and duck hunting, especially when surrounded by his many close friends. His appreciation for nature was matched only by the joy he found in time spent with family. Donnie treasured his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, many of whom left lasting influences on his life. Donnie will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends at Hightower's Memorial Chapel in Douglasville on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m., with Reverend Charles Gibbs officiating. Interment will take place at Central Baptist Church Cemetery.
