Donald B. Garetano Sr.

Donald B Garetano, Sr., 83. Of Manasquan, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home of Sunday, January 29, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Don was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and was a graduate of St Simon and Jude Grammar School and Lincoln High School, both in Brooklyn. Don also attended City College of New York. After high school Don worked as driver for the New York Daily News for 10 years before starting his over 40 year career as an insurance broker and financial advisor. Don started with MetLife Insurance, before opening his own business on Staten Island, NY, where he had several locations. He was a longtime member of South Shore Kiwanis, avid golfer, enjoyed bocci, fishing, dancing and going to the theater with his wife and was known as the family photographer. Don and his wife raised their family on Staten Island before moving to Four Seasons of Wall, where they resided for 25 years.
Don was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years Joan (nee Faggiano) Garetano, a son Donald Garetano, Jr., and a brother Vincent Garetano. He is survived by his beloved daughters Donnamarie Garetano of Manasquan, and Joan Jorgensen of Marlboro. Don was the cherished grandfather of Christopher M. Jorgensen, as well as a brother to Theresa Mattia of Staten Island, NY.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 3-5 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St Denis Church, Manasquan, NJ. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
