Donald J. Gregorich Sr.

Donald Joseph Gregorich Sr. a resident of Royal Oak, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the age of 83. A son of Joseph Gregorich Sr. and Eleanor Kauppila, he was born on March 9, 1942 and grew up in the Detroit and Keweenaw Peninsula area. Donald met Jacqueline Lahs on a blind date, and they married on August 8, 1964. Together they went on to share sixty-one wonderful years of marriage, with Donald naturally saying each day, "I love your beautiful smile." A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Donald cherished his family, spending time hunting/fishing/camping with his sons and grandsons. Enjoyed joking and laughing with his daughter Robin until she would she would say, "Oh Daddy" He looked forward to the annual cousins' reunion that brought everyone together in Eagle Harbor, MI. He enjoyed watching Detroit Sports and watching his grandsons coach and play baseball and hockey. Memories shared with his brothers and "little sister Mary" always created laughs until we cried. His career was a Master Plumber and sharing tricks of the trade with brother Geggy. He served 4 years in the Navy after leaving home. In his retirement, Donald enjoyed working as a ranger at Red Oaks Golf Course. Loving father of Bryan (Tina) Gregorich, Robin Gregorich, Kristoffer (Rebecca) Gregorich, and the late Donald Gregorich II; and father-in-law of Laura Gregorich. Proud grandfather of Ryan, Alex, and Zachary Gregorich; and great-grandfather of Dilenna Gregorich. Brother of Mary Sapino, Joseph (Kay) Gregorich, Gregory (Betty) Gregorich, Mark Gregorich, and the late David Gregorich. Further survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jacqueline. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11:30 am until time of Memorial Mass at 12:00 pm at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 581 E. 14 Mile Road, Clawson, MI 48017.
