Donald M. Hanigan

Donald M. Hanigan, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024. Donald was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the only child of the late Raymond and Sara Rita (Lydon). Donald came to Cleveland in 1938 and was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He had a 31-year career driving buses and rapid transit trains for CTS (now RTA-Regional Transit Authority). Don had many interesting stories about meeting famous people during his travels around Northeast Ohio while working for RTA. He was a lifelong Cleveland Browns and Guardians fan. Don loved to wear and show off his Cleveland Baseball cap with opening day pins, nearly a pounds worth!
He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife June (nee Hixon). Loving father of Donald (Lynn), Jeff (the late Barb) and Judy Bader; grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 8. Don and June lived in Rocky River for 50 years. Despite his medical issues for many years, Don always had a sunny disposition and loved making wise cracks. We couldn't have had a nicer father, grandfather, or friend. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held at the Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Road, Fairview Park on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
