Donald Wayne "Donnie" Hunter,71, of Harrisburg, formerly of Ocean Isle Beach, passed away February 20,2022. Donnie was born in Montgomery County, MD but grew up and lived
in the Mallard Creek community of Charlotte and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1968. Upon retirement he fulfilled his dream of having a beach home and moved to Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Donnie could always be found with a western novel nearby and loved hunting and surf fishing.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Batte and Berneil Hunter. Survivors include his step-mother Carlita Hunter of Concord, brother Jimmy Hunter (Janet) of Concord, sister Suzanne Curtis (Jerry) of Mooresville, step-sister Marsha Hankins(Chip) and step-brother Butch Gemin, both of Colorado, nieces Beth Hunter of Newberry Springs, CA, and Anna Doering (Mike) of Concord, nephew Hunter Curtis (Brittney) of Mooresville, great-niece Emily Doering and great-nephews Andrew Doering and Brett Doering of Concord.
The Hunter family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Pruitt Healthcare in Harrisburg for their years of care and support for Donnie.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, February 24 at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM with service to follow at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church.
