Donald Edward Johnson Jr. was born September 29, 1957 in San
Diego, California. He was the third child born to Ruby J. Johnson
and Donald Edward Johnson Sr. He received his education in the
San Diego Unified School District and graduated from Patrick
Henry High School in 1975. He later received his degree in
Culinary Arts from the LeCordon Bleu.
Donnie, as many of us referred to him, loved sports and was an
All-Star baseball player. Donnie went on to coach baseball and
received countless trophies for a job well done. He was a very
hard worker and an excellent provider. He was employed by the
San
Diego City College as a welder's helper. Donnie also worked as a
welder for Laurel Engineering and Continental Maritime.
In 1999, he made a life changing career change by moving to
Riverside County when AT&T transferred his wife there to work.
Donnie then began his new career working for Lowe's
Distribution Center and later at Bary's Security. He also worked
as the janitor at Perris 5th Street Seventh-Day Adventist Church
where he was
Baptized by Pastor Robert Edwards and later went on to
complete his studies and became a Deacon.
Donnie loved his children and grandchildren and has left them
with many wonderful memories. He had a special place in his
heart for his two grandsons T'Ray and little Darron, who were
both born on December 12, 2000. Donnie also had a close and
loving
relationship with his wife, Dorothy Johnson. They were like to
peas in a pod. Their house was known to be the place where
everyone would go on the weekends. Cooking and bringing
friends and
family together was their specialty.
On October 8, 2024, God called Donnie home to rest. He was
preceded in death by his mother, Ruby J. Johnson, father, Donald
E. Johnson Sr., sisters, Gayle Jones and Kimberly Johnson,
daughter, Kimberly Johnson, paternal grandmother, Margaret
Johnson, maternal grandmother, Rosie L. Ward, maternal
grandfather, Lonnie Brandon Sr., father-in-law, Melvin Tate Sr.,
mother-in-law, Geraldine Tate, step-daughter, Tausha Broadnax,
great-granddaughter, Kalani Maya Baisden and grandson, Darron
Singleton.
Donnie leaves behind to cherish his loving memories his wife,

Take me out to the ballgame
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks
I don't care if I never get back
Let me root for the home team
If they don't win it's a shame
'Cause it's ONE, TWO, THREE strikes your're out!!!"
At the old ball game.......
